5/18/2009 7:45:01 AM | Master Kovar, 50 years old wow!! Through out my martial art career I have always looked forward to reading the things that you wrote and always enjoyed speaking with you personally at the various Martial Art meetings each year starting back with the first video I saw from you. Your Instructor Certification manual has been a staple in my Dojos and I too, learned a great deal from reading and teaching your words and thoughts.
Thanks for all you have done for myself and for the refinement of the Martial Arts. I am looking forward to all you have to offer for the next to the next 50 years. That is to say should you survive your "100 Man Kumite" :>) " A Human Life Gains Luster and Temper Only When It is Polished and Tempered". Best of luck in all you do in the future.
All the best

5/17/2009 5:09:58 AM | Sensei Dave:
Omedetogozaimashita on your 50th. Hopefully the next 50 will be a little easier! Just remember that in the senior division you have to fight "dirty" using all the waza that you never taught your students and don"t let "em see you sweat. At this stage deception is your best weapon. Seriously, enjoy your well deserved day and I hope there are many more to come. Stay well. Ganbatte!!!
Warm regards;

Chuck Merriman

5/16/2009 5:54:30 AM | WOW. So much to say and so little of a box to say it all in. I think Don Snider and I have a pair of sunglasses to give you. I trust you still have your oakleys we gave you for your 30th party. I was just at your house (kevins) and we were "reminiscing" bout the "old" days. Dont take old personal although you wont remember my sarcasm anyway. And yes i know i will pay for my insensitive sarcasm in ways that i cant even imagine. I am shocked that you did not want me as one of your fifty to beat on. all kidding aside. you were a great boss, instructor, and most importantly a friend.
heres to the next fifty years and I will be one of the hundred you fight at your 100 bday.
