Known as the Tony Hawk of martial arts, seven-time World Forms & Weapons Champion and former Blue Power Ranger Mike Chat has created a revolution of his own. The XMA Revolution is an Xtrememovement that has spread across the martial arts community worldwide. With more than 650 XMA-licensed schools worldwide in four short years, Mike Chat and his XMA team members have also penetrated Hollywoods elite with starring roles in major motion films The Adventures of Sharkboy & Lava Girl, Spy Kids 3, Cheaper By the Dozen 2, Jackie Chans House of Fury and Jackies newest film Rob-B-Hood, along with appearances on network talk shows and NBA half-time shows. Responsible for training stunt doubles for George Clooney, Chris ODonnel, Keanu Reeves, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chat has worked with some of the top action directors and stunt coordinators in Hollywood. In 2003, he starred in and licensed the usage rights to the Discovery Channel for their Emmy Award-winning documentary XMA, Xtreme Martial Arts, which was translated into more than 35 languages and viewed in over 170 countries worldwide! Aside from training over 30 World Forms & Weapons Champions, Mike Chat is also responsible for the integration of Xtreme Martial Arts division categories into every major international competitive circuit. There is a showcased XMA event televised by ESPN2 each year via the US OPEN/ISKA World Championships.
Representing the new wave Kung-Fu, with more than 23 years of martial arts experience, Mike Chat has acquired national and international acclaim for his innovative martial arts skills and performances. Chat was inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 1992, and has captured more than 50 National and International Forms & Weapons Championships. His popularity overseas exploded after winning two gold medals at the 1995 W.A.K.O. World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany, and an additional Gold medal at the 1995 I.S.K.A. World Championships. This led to several covers on Europes top martial arts magazines, Top Fighter, Karate Infight, Kick Illustrierter Kamptsport, Karate Bushido, plus two additional gold medals at the 1996 I.S.K.A. World Championships in Forms & Weapons. With crowds of 15,000 packing the house to catch a glimpse of Chat at the Budo Show 95 in Montreal, Canada, and the renowned Budo Gala 95: Next Generation in Dortmund and Munich, he returned to sell-out performances in 1997. Stunning crowds at the FIBO Expo and the Budo Gala 97: Spirit of Budo, Chat captured the Forms & Weapons Championship at the 1997 Budo Open International in Essen, Germany, and was immediately picked by Sattva Music for the cover of their Spirit of Budo CD. In addition, Chat opened in Paris for the Salon de Arts Martiaux et Sports de Combat 97at Bercy, where he dazzled 25,000 spectators with his super-intense, high-flying, acrobatic-martial arts routines. In the spring of 1998, he returned to perform for EURO-SPORT TV with the renowned Shaolin Monks at the Palais de Sports at Bercy with his top-ranked competition team, Team Chat International
In 1996, these talents, along with his onscreen magnetism, landed him a starring role in Foxs hit TV show, WMAC MASTERS, where he debuted his own character creation, Wizard [also, what year was this that you were on this show?]Chat has gone on to win the Overall Forms & Weapons Grand Champion Title at the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classicand is featured on ESPN2, EURO-SPORT, Action Pay-Per-Views Fight Zone, and The Dave Matthews Band music video, Satellite. In 1997, he starred in a Del Taco and national Sprite commercial and can be seen in Cirruss new music video Back On A Mission. 1998 brought appearances on CBSs action series Martial Law and the Mortal Kombat Conquest television series.
In 1999, Michael was part of HBO/Showtimes fall print campaign, starred in twoLamisil commercials, and was featured in the popular Del Taco Kick commercial, which re-aired for a second 21-month cycle. 2001 brought a co-starring role on CBSs Nash Bridges and the starring role as Chad Lee the new Blue Power Ranger on Foxs hit show, Power Rangers Lightspeed RescueAfter shooting five commercials in the spring of 1999 national McDonalds, IBM, MCI 1-800 COLLECT, Cisco Systems, and Fosters Beer, Chat finished off the year working with the creator of the Mortal Kombat video games in developing characters for the immensely popular video game Tao Feng: Fist of Lotus, Everquest 2, plus starring in International GE Global and National Network Heinz Ketchup commercials.
Chats career exploded into 2002 with featured roles in the Spielberg/Dreamworks project, The Time Machine, Universals Big Fat Liar, Austin Powers 3: Goldmember, plus commercials for Honda, Power Ade, Direct TV, international Rexona, and Sure. Chat recently starred in Discovery Channels Emmy Award-winning documentary, XMA, Xtreme Martial Arts. Subsequently, 20th Century Foxs head casting director cast Chat to play himself, the Xtreme Martial Arts master in the film Little Manhattan, starring Josh Hutcherson (Zathura, Polar Bear Express, Bridge to Terabithia). Currently, Chat is developing an XMA television series and feature film with Base Productions while developing XMAs licensing program and new product line. XMA is pursuing brand extensions, launching the first line of XMA sporting goods retail products into Academy Sports stores this past holiday season. Chat is currently building the XMA World HQ in the NOHO Arts District, North Hollywood, CA. This will serve as XMAs headquarter training facilities and home to the top martial arts, acrobatic, and stunt industry professionals in the world.
