American Hapkido MMA is a truly unique experience in so many ways. If you, your child, or anyone you know it considering martial arts, this is the studio for you.
My son started at age 4 in Little Dragons and continued through the Junior program. Aside from learning how to defend himself, he learned discipline, respect for others, and respect for himself. As a Junior in High School, we still get comments about what a respectful young man he is to others. In sports he constantly thanks the officials with a handshake and eye to eye contact. This was instilled right from the beginning from Master Anderson. Also my son recently received an Academic All-America Award for his grade point average while participating in club and high school sports. I point this out because Master Anderson and his team of dedicated instructors really do care about each individual that walks through their door. Master Anderson believes in a good education and maintaining good grades. Master Anderson doesnt just provide lessons in martial arts, he provides lessons that prepare people for life. Because of his instruction I do believe many of his students make better choices in life.
Personally, I started training with Master Anderson in 2004 and obtained by 1st degree Black Belt in 2008. Although I do not train at the facility anymore, the information and skills I have obtained, I use in my everyday life. Again, even though I do not train at the facility, I still consider Master Anderson a mentor, a friend, and a brother. Even though I do not know many of his current instructors, I know I can walk into his studio and be treated as one of their family.
It is truly so much more of an experience than just martial arts. I see life in a completely different way than I did before, and I know it is because of the training and instruction I received at American Hapkido. I have learned that life really is a journey and I am learning things along this journey every day.
Master Anderson and his staff are the only people I would ever consider training under. I do hope to return to training in the future to test for my 2nd Degree and 3rd Degree black belts. Whether that happens will depend on my journey and where it takes me. However, American Hapkido is the best resting point I have ever made on my journey.
I wrote this review from a personal point of view rather than the actual physicality of the martial arts. Why? Because I believe many others would write from that point of view. But to add my comment about it, you will not get better training and instruction than from Master Anderson and his staff.
So if you are considering martial arts training, I hope this review will guide you this resting point on your life journey.
The point of the journey, is not to arrive. Anything can happen Neil Peart

America Hapkido MMA has been an extended part of our family for over 9 years now. Our journey with them started as a way we hoped would help our then 6 year old son channel some of his issues with frustration, attention span, and impatience and develop skills dealing with self discipline and impulse control. He is now 14 and in the 9 years he has been involved in the program he has grown tremendously, learned some much needed coping mechanisms, earned his black belt, made new friends, and developed skills that will last him a lifetime. Along they way both of our daughters ages 6 and 11 have been in the program for several years, and have learned confidence, self-assurance, and valuable skills for being strong, confident future leaders who are also able to defend themselves. And most recently, Dad joined in and is getting some much needed fitness in a fun way that is also interesting, technically engaging, and never the same thing twice. That's 4 out of 5 of us that are actively involved in classes at American Hapkido! We're still working on getting Mom in there too.
The program provides an outstanding combination of physical fitness, balance, flexibility, self-defense, and mental toughness and agility that provide "whole person" self-improvement. It's been a great alternative activity for our kids who have not seemed all that interested in the more competitive team sports, and the individualized advancement while working in a class/team environment are a great balance of social and personal growth.
The Anderson family is a Moorpark institution. They are wonderful, sweet, engaged, and accessible people who really invest in their students' total well-being. They have been and continue to be an indispensable and beloved part of our family and community of Moorpark friends. We have referred numerous other families to American Hapkido MMA and would whole-heartedly do so for anyone - it's worked wonders in ours.

Both my children are a part of the after school program and take classes daily. I am so amazed at the growth I have seen in them. They have gained confidence, self control and are motivated to do their best in martial arts as well as in their home and school life. They absolutely cherish the friendships they have made and the encouragement they receive from all the other students. I can't say enough positive things about Master Anderson and Mrs. Anderson...they not only teach the children martial arts but they foster excellence in all the students and invest in each and everyone in the Hapkido family. The instructors are top notch and the students are focused, learning and involved in every class. I am thrilled and thankful to American Hapkido for their commitment to my children! There is no other program in Moorpark that compares to this and no better investment in my children .

American Hapkido MMA is truly the best Martial Art school I have ever been to. When I first decided to look for a martial art / self defense training program, I checked out several schools. What impressed me the most with American Hapkido in Moorpark wasnt just their huge state of the art training facility but that it is a family run business.
I quickly realized that Master Anderson wasnt just a great Martial Artist but also and most important that is he an amazing teacher.
Something that is very important to me in learning Martial Arts is not only how to do a certain technique or move but why.
I am very grateful for the personal attention every student gets from all the instructors and always feel that I get more out of every class than expected.
Master Anderson dedication to Martial Art and teaching always amazes me. I am already looking forward to bringing my 2 year old granddaughter to the Lil Dragon program next year !

Thank you so much to The Anderson's and all the amazing martial arts trainers at American Hapkido for providing a safe, fun, yet hardworking environment for my daughters to learn and train. Not only are they learning important skills through disciplined martial arts practice, but they have a natural and built-in support and social environment that becomes like extended family. The training has increased the self confidence of both my daughters immeasurably and watching them blossom in skill and confidence at the studio has been a blessing and my grateful privilege.

Our son has been going to American Hapkido MMA for almost 6 yrs now and it absolutely was the right choice for him and our family! It is not your typical Martial Arts studio where the kids just go through the ranks...aside from being a great Martial Arts school, they provide individual attention and support to all their students.
Dan and Kimberly Anderson really go above and beyond!

I have been with this studio off and on for the past 16 years. It has always felt like a big family to me. Everybody is encouraging and doesn't expect you to be the greatest at everything, as long as you try your hardest, they are caring in and out of the studio and will help out when needed. The training is fun, challenging, and simply awesome. It's a great place for kids and adults. I don't know where I would be now without their discipline and direction through my childhood. I recommend American Hapkido Mixed Martial Arts to anybody.

We signed our son up 4 years ago (age 5) and thru the past 4 years the improvements he has achieved with Master Anderson and his staff are truly amazing! Our son was diagnosed with mild autism and he had a very low self-esteem and a hard time focusing. Now seeing him today and what all he has overcome with the help of Master Anderson and his staff we, his parents, are extremely overcome and grateful. Martial Arts teaches discipline, self-worth and respect and without this program our son may not be as far along as he is today. Now, our son, is working towards his black belt, and oh what a day that will be for him! I recommend Hapkido to everyone!

I am 16 years old and my name is Nicholas. I joined American Hapkido because I felt that it would be an awesome experience, I was right! American Hapkido provides me with great learning experiences and opportunities. I feel welcomed and as if I belong there ever since day 1. The instructors know what there are doing and have patience with me and all of the students. There is also jujitsu and boxing available for me to learn so that I feel protected in this crazy world. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone to join, whether your strong, tall, short, small, big, young, old, or even just crazy, American Hapkido is for you.

I have been to several different studios in several different cities over the years and I find the training at American Hapkido to be excellent.
As I progress through the system I find it is logical and well thought out.
I would highly recommend training here.

I spent over half of my life teaching and training at American Hapkido. I can say with all certainty that I will never forget my experiences or lose contact with the innumerable friends I made. The value-centered martial arts education is valuable for anyone at any stage in his or her life, and the top-notch self defense skills make anyone feel at ease. Master Anderson is an awesome instructor and person, and he constantly grooms his staff, always pushing his instructors to become better teachers and people. If you are lucky enough to live nearby, there is no reason not to enroll.

I had two young boys start karate at this studio. They trained for 7 years and obtained their junior black belts. I enjoyed this studio and all that it had to offer, as well as my boys. Very organized, clean, professional and disciplined. At one time I joined myself and loved every minute of it. Would recommend highly for any age.
